Here are our thoughts at the time of writing, as of
July 2019. The Pathfinder has brought much-needed
competition to the tracker market with many people
becoming upset with the durability of the Garmin
Tracking collars themselves. But will it prove to be
a good alternative or another dud in waiting as the
Tek 2.0 eventually showed. As we have stated to
suppliers, you can have all the features in the world
but if it doesn’t go the distance, it’s likely not going
to cut it. First, let’s talk about the pros. It has wicked
live maps that download as you hunt if you have
service, or you can download offline maps that will
show even if you don’t have signal. It shows the dogs
current speed, and the updates to your phone are
almost instant. The mobile app is straightforward
to use and has incredible graphics. So far we have
found the battery life to be nearly on par with the
Garmin Alpha and the T5. The Pathfinder charges
faster than the Garmin trackers as well, thanks to
their fast charge feature. Every collar has the option
to add or remove prongs as needed to use the
training function, which is pretty cool. The price is
lower than Garmin for your combo however extra
collars are more expensive; you do get two years
warranty though over Garmins 12 months.
