  Back in the 90’s we had over 3000 accredited pig harvesters and 1200 Kangaroo shooters. Pigs alone were estimated to bring up to 20 million dollars a year into the economy. Each year hundreds of thousands of carcasses were exported overseas mainly to France, Italy, Belgium, Japan, and Sweden. The average price paid to harvesters in 1996 was 90 cents/kg, but by mid-1997 averaged about 70-75 cents/kg.
