Overview

• We decided to head out for a run with the dogs, just for a quick look to see what had been getting about. We had four dogs with us Ella 6-year-old bitza, Nugget 6-year-old Bully Stag, Crispy 14-month-old Bully x & Oscar 5year old Mastiff x. After going around a couple of blocks, there wasn’t too much sign about so we thought it might be a dry run. We continued to the next cane block to see if the dogs could pick up something. The dogs were keen, and they all flew off the ute, heading straight into the cane. We let the dogs do their thing watching them work on the tracker. 
  
  
  
  The ended up pushing out to 2.5kms, and we were hoping that the pig wasn’t too far gone for them to catch up. The three dogs came together and stayed in the one spot for a while, and we knew they must have had something. We drove in the ute as close as we could and then ran in. There is nothing better than running in on the dogs with a good boar in the cane. Ella, Nugget & Oscar had pulled up a big boar, and they were doing a great job after a long find. My daughter’s young pup also pulled up her own pig as well. After all the excitement was over, we had the challenge of getting him out of the cane to weigh him, and he weighed in at 132.5kg. Cant complain after a morning like that, it’s always great when you get a big boar on a quick hunt.
