It was just a quick hunt after work with the misses Brigitte and our three dogs, Bull - Irish Wolfhound x Dane x Mastiff, Luna - Purebred Smithfield Stumpy Tail Cattle dog & Cash - Bully x Stag x Cattle. After a few hours of hunting and not much action, we decided to turn around and send it home. We left the dogs on the back on the way out just in case. Halfway back Bull and Cash jumped off, they worked their way in to around the 500 meters. Once they stopped moving out, a commotion followed by a nice strong bail. I let Luna out to give them a helping hand. Brigitte and I started heading towards the sound, through some thick country. We made it to the dogs arriving to see a really good boar being bailed by Cash and Luna; Bull was off to the side trying to catch his breath for a minute.

As I made my way in closer to the pig Bull went back in to get hold one last time so that I could grab the boar. I got in quickly and grabbed the big fella by the back leg. I finished him off and as I let the legs go the boar flicked Bull straight on his back, and the boar turned around to face me. Surprised I tried to run backwards in the long grass and ended up landing on my ass. With the boar at my feet lifting his head and thrashing my legs I was trying to get up, Bull came in hard again and saved the day. It was a close call, a little to close for my likings. After all the excitement we strung the boar up to weigh him, he came in at 120.6kgs, definitely a big boar to remember.
