Boogs is my 8-month-old Hairy dog, he’s a Wolfhound Harlequin Dane x Bully Staghound. He is bred by Shane and Rhiannon Casben. Boogs joined our family early in 2018 after unfortunately losing his half-brother to a snake bite. After we got him we knew he was going to be super quick to steal our hearts. He comes along on almost all of our holidays as well as our fishing trips and our regular pigging adventures. He was such a quick learner and soon he had learned the tricks of the trade from the rest of our motley crew. Something else exciting happened in 2018 as well, we were expecting our first child. Living in a rural area has its advantages but unfortunately, its always let down on the health side of things. I found out that I needed to go to a bigger hospital to have my baby and I knew I couldn’t hide Boogs in my bags even though I wanted to. I decided to take Boogs with me to my parents’ house on the coast. This way I would still be able to see him for the month whilst we waited for our new little hunting buddy to arrive.

Now I think back about my pregnancy, throughout my whole pregnancy Boogs was noticeably more gentle with me than he was with others. After all, he’s still only a crazy pup and I was continuously told by everyone around me that it was not safe to have a pup of “his type” (pig dog) near a newborn baby. Thought I think it always best to be safe I had a feeling the baby and Boogs were going to be best mates. The day had finally come and we met out little boy Bentley. After a few days of rest, it was time to introduce Boogs to his brother. From day one of meeting Bentley, Boogs was cautious, gentle and really obedient around him. Now Bentley is a little older we have done a few quick hunting adventures with him. With many more memories to be made I have a feeling that these 2 are going to be best mates for life. I’m definitely looking forward to watching them grow up together and experiencing many happy hunting adventures.
