A lot of hunters talk about the hardest pigs to catch and the surroundings of where the pigs are situated. In my opinion, the hardest pigs are in and around the sugar cane. To start off with the pigs are well-educated meaning they have been chased from a very young age week in week out. The bigger pigs you get have probably been hit countless amounts of times and outsmart the dogs by using the thickness of the cane and not only inside of the cane on the outside as the cane is either surrounded by mountains or mangroves. It takes years of experience at hunting the cane to work out the best way in doing so and gaining a handy team of dogs who can become very good dogs in the cane. But in saying this nothing is more rewarding than catching a big boar that you may have hit countless times already. I have had the enjoyment of hunting out west in what I think is a hell of a lot easier and still very enjoyable as any pig hunting is.

I have taken other good pig hunters in and around the cane as a lot of them want to see what all the fuss is about and to test their dogs out only to be disappointed and frustrated as you watch a big fella would walk right out in front of you with no dogs in sight. But in saying that we have caught some big pigs in the cane with hunters who said it is a great experience and quite challenging and very rewarding when you do get a big boar. But as where I live is surrounded by cane and a close local hunt could be a minute down the road you tend not to get frustrated in missing pigs but to just go back again, sometimes time and time again to eventually end up catching what you have been after.
